Tough Coat

Our non-yellowing water-based Tough Coat comes in 2 sheens, matte and gloss. Perfect for those high traffic surfaces such as tabletops.  Easy to apply using a sponge for a smooth application adding extra durability and increased sheen to your painted pieces.

Do not use over medium to darker colours as it will show streaks, this is water vapour trapped within the tough coat and is visible on dark colours in particular. Should streaking occur, you can simply apply the paint over top and leave it as is.

Use the Natural” colour All in One Finishing Oil as a substitute to avoid streaking and to provide an extra durable strong topcoat over Fusion Mineral Paint over high traffic areas like kitchen cabinets or tabletops, even flooring!

This is known as the “Tough Coat Sandwich”. It has Paint first, then Tough Coat, then Paint and it is beyond durable! This is only recommended for very high traffic surfaces

HOW TO USE IT
Gently mix your Tough Coat™ prior to using it as the matting agent and other ingredients may settle to the bottom. Do not shake vigorously as this will cause air bubbles in your piece that are difficult to remove once applied. Wipe onto surface with damp sponge or applicator pad. Dries quickly, so do not go over the same area twice until second coat (if desired).

COVERAGE
120ml covers about 1,7 sq. meter

Apply a very thin layer using a sponge or applicator pad over light colours for added durability. If your Tough Coat is drying too fast, add our Paint Extender or use our Continuous Water Mister to even out the finish. Not recommended over dark colours unless applied extremely thin, or using the gloss. Sometimes the matting agent will go cloudy over darker colours. Instead we recommend our Stain & Finishing Oil over darker colours. 500ml covers about 75 sq.ft (7m2). Clean up is easy with soap and warm water. Gently mix or stir prior to using (do not shake); wipe onto surface with damp sponge or applicator pad. Dries quickly, so do not go over the same area twice until second coat (if desired).
